During pregnancy a womans’ body goes through many changes, both physical and psychological.  The process of babies’ growth and development involves many changes in hormones, the organs, tissues, and bones have to shift and adapt to these changes.  This can cause a lot of  different symptoms during pregnancy.  Many of these symptoms such as water retention or swelling, congestion, nausea and vomiting, fatigue and body pain can be treated with shiatsu, acupuncture, and massage therapy. Clients feel more comfortable and see relief from symptoms, sleep better, and have more energy.  Breech babies can also be turned using moxibustion and acupuncture, as well as labour can be encouraged with the stimulation of induction acupuncture points with acupuncture, acupressure, and shiatsu.

Lisa Dowling has been studying, practising and teaching shiatsu for pregnancy for over 10 years.  Her experience ranges from the early stages of fertility right through to post-partum care.  Lisa has also been trained in pre and post natal exercise to assist her clients with mobility as well as helping them become stronger to prepare for birth.  Currently Lisa also uses acupuncture in her pregnancy treatments when appropriate and requested by her patients.
